Anti-ulcer drugs
Ulcers treated with at least 6 weeks of medications that reduce
stomach acid production. Any of the funds on antiulcer usually
neutralizes or reduces stomach acid and relieves symptoms for
several days. If the symptoms do not disappear completely or be
resumed when the medication stopped, additional examination.
Cytotec forms a protective coating at the bottom of the ulcer,
which promotes healing. It works well and is an acceptable
alternative to antacids.
Cytotec taken 3-4 times daily
before meals, it is not absorbed into the bloodstream, so that the
side effects are rare but can cause constipation.
H2-receptor antagonists (H2 blockers): cimetidine, pa-nitidin
(gistak, Ranisan), famotidine (gastrosidin, kvamatel) and nizatidin
(aksid) - promote healing of ulcers, reducing the acid content and
activity of digestive enzymes in the stomach and duodenum. This
high-performance drugs, they take only 1-2 times a day.
In most cases of serious side effects occur, some of these drugs
available without prescription. However, cimetidine can cause
mastopathy in men - breast tenderness, and rarely - impotence if
the patient is taking high doses of this medicine for a long
time.
Mental changes (especially in the elderly), diarrhea, rash, fever
and muscle pain occurred in less than 1% of those treated with
cimetidine. If a person who takes cimetidine, there is any of these
side effects, then eliminate it can change to another H2-blocker.
Because cimetidine may interfere with the excretion of certain
drugs (eg, eufilli-on, used to treat asthma, and phenol nitoina
designated to prevent seizures), the patient should alert the
doctor that he had taken cimetidine.
Omeprazole (Loseke, zerotsid) and lanzoprazol - potent drugs that
suppress the production of enzymes necessary for the synthesis of
acid in the stomach. These drugs can completely stop the production
of acid and provide long-term effect. They promote healing more
effectively and in a shorter time than the H2 blockers.
Drugs are especially recommended for patients with esophagitis or
esophageal ulcers and other conditions under which changes the
secretion of stomach acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Antibiotics are used more often, if the main cause of ulcers is the
pyloric gelikobakter. Designate one or more antibiotics and
medications designed to reduce the acidity or neutralize stomach
acid. In most cases, use subsalitsi-lat bismuth, tetracycline
(amoxycillin) and metronidazole (Trichopol) in combination with
omeprazole (Loseke, zerotsid). Such treatment leads to healing of
the ulcer, even if previous treatment was ineffective, and most
importantly - prevents relapses.
Misoprostol
(Cytotec) is used to prevent stomach ulcers while taking
nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Doctors did not come to a
consensus about when to misoprostol. However, the majority believes
that it shows some patients with arthritis who take high doses of
nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
Misoprostol prescribe not all such patients, since 30% of patients it causes diarrhea.
